Gamma Ray Response Function of Some Polymeric Nuclear Track Detectros for Application in Radiation Dosimetry

Description
The effect of gamma dose on the bulk-etch rate measurements for some gamma irradiation polymeric nuclear track detectors was studied. Cellulose Nitrate Type LR-115 and Cellulose Triacetate C.T.A. as a tissue equivalent material have been measured and exposed to gamma doses up to 300 k Gy. The bulk-etch rate ratio VBD/VBO i.e. the bulk-etch rate of irradiated samples to the nonirradiated ones was measured at the most recommended optimum etching conditions. The induced changes in the bulk etch ratio VBD/VBO due to gamma ray irradiation of LR-115 and C.T.A plastic samples provide a better method for application in radiation dosimeter. Moreover it is concluded that the LR-115 is more sensitive gamma dosimeter in the range (20-25) kGy, and C.T.A in the range (20-200) kGy. Fading behavior of LR-115 and C.T.A was also studied at room temperature for duration up to 16 days. No detectable fading effect with respect to the absorbed gamma dose when they stored at room temperature within the studied fading periods
