Description
A model of nuclear matter built from alpha particles is proposed. In this model, nuclei have a molecule-like structure. By analyzing the number of bonds, one gets a formula for the binding energy of the nucleus. The structure is determined by the minimum of the potential energy, where interactions between alpha particles are pairwise. The calculated binding energies show good agreement with experiment
