Molecular spectrometry with a holographically scanned cw dye laser and supersonic cooling

Description
The application of a high-resolution self-scanning cw dye laser to molecular spectrometry is explained. The laser uses optical feedback from a holographic pattern in a BaTiO, crystal to control its frequency and linewidth. Fluorescence excitation spectra of molecular iodine in a supersonic expansion have been measured, demonstrating the potential of the new technique
