Pre- and post-operative evaluation of renal function using radionuclide dynamic renal imaging in children with congenital hydronephrosis

Description
12 children with unilateral hydronephrosis were studied by 99mTc-DTPA renal imaging and their split renal functions were estimated pre- and post-operatively. The results demonstrated that the function of affected kidney was significantly improved after operation (mean 9.49% +-8.39%, P<0.01), and that the poorer the function was observed preoperatively, the better the function would increase relatively postoperatively. An abnormal renal function was noted only in a few patients
