Computed tomography of cerebral vascular diseases with contrast enhancement, (1)

  • 1. Mihara Memorial Hospital, Gunma (Japan). Inst. of Brain and Blood Vessels

Description

In 30 cases of hemorrhage secondary to intracranical aneurysm, correlation of contrast enhancement of the basal cisterns and Sylvian fissure was evaluated to the occurrence of vasospasm was investigated. 100 ml of 60% conray solution was injected in 10 min. and CT was carried out after 15 min. and 30 min. High degree of vasospasm followed in the cases where the image of basal cisterns was markedly enhanced within four days. When the aneurysm was resected out completely within four days high degree of vasospasm was not observed. CT with contrast enhancement within four days after the onset of the rupture of intracranical aneurysm was promising to predict the occurrence of vasospasm. (Nakanishi, T.)
