Basic and clinical examinations of thyroxine RIA kit (T4 RIA Konsul)

  • 1. Chiba Univ. (Japan). School of Medicine

Description

Basic and clinical examinations of T4 RIA Konsul by the solid phase technique were performed on 137 children with normal thyroid, simple goiter, chronic thyroiditis, hyperthyroidism, or hypothyroidism. This technique showed satisfactory recovery rates, dilution tests, and reproducibility and sufficient clinical sensitivity and precision and, therefore, is a reliable method. Since it uses the solid phase technique for separation of B (blood T4 bound with radioactive T4) from F (free T4), the measuring procedures are simple. It produced measurement values which showed good agreement with those by another RIA kit with a satisfactory correlation. The blood T4 level measured with T4 RIA Konsul was 8.29 +- 2.7 μg/dl in children with normal thyroid function, 20.10 +- 7.5 μg/dl for those with hyperthyroidism, and 2.14 +- 1.7 μg/dl for those with hypothyroidism.
