Radiation hardness of optical fibres
Description
A method is described of pretreating optical fibres to render the fibres less susceptible to radiation-induced losses caused by exposure to a first source of nuclear radiation, the method including providing a second source of nuclear radiation having a greater radiation intensity than the loss inducing source and exposing the optical fibres to the higher source of radiation before exposure to the loss inducing source.
