Description
As part of a program to reduce capital cost and construction schedule, Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. - CANDU Operations has identified design improvement to increase the output of a CANDU-600 unit by 17%. These improvements are based on proven technology thereby ensuring that the uprated plant will perform to the same high standards of reliability and safety as other CANDU designs. This report presents comparisons of the uprated design to other CANDU designs and shows that the choice of design alternatives is based on the design, manufacturing, commissioning and operating experience gained through other CANDU designs which are already operating or in the process of being constructed
