MP and E's electric utility report

Highlights of a recent meeting are reported under the following headings: electric power in Canada; developments in utility technology; utilities assess load management benefits; outage statistics improve system reliability; what is CEA doing in research; major trends in utility technology; nuclear power developments here and abroad. The growth in national consumption of electricity for 1976 was 7.1%. The highest regional increase was 15.5% in Newfoundland. Plans for new nuclear and conventional power plants are surveyed. Some new developments in the technology of power generation are briefly reported. (N.D.H.)
