Symbolic computation in controlled thermonuclear research

The following report summarizes the panel's deliberations and makes recommendations for further ERDA activity in the area of symbolic computation. A listing is given of the types of problems which have already been solved by symbolic computation, as well as a discussion of the various software systems which have been used. A detailed discussion is given of areas of CTR research where symbolic computation is of potential usefulness. The best attempts of the panel to estimate the potential usage of symbolic computation by the CTR community are outlined. The detailed recommendations of the panel are given
