A coaxial electron beam attenuator for a Febetron 705

  • 1. Muenchen Univ. (Germany, F.R.). Strahlenbiologisches Inst.

Description

A coaxial electron beam attenuator for a Febetron 705 is described, which reduces the dose to values from 100 to 7000 rad/pulse for pulse radiolysis experiments. The attenuation is mainly achieved by removing the lower energy electrons. The mode of operation and the advantage compared to other methods of attenuation are discussed on the basis of results of dose distribution measurements. Electrical noise is negligible, even though the irradiation cell is not encased in metal but freely accessible. (author)
