Mechanical stresses and their effects on the critical current behaviour of Nb3Sn superconductors

Description
In toroidal magnet systems for fusion devices, the superconductors are exposed to high axial tension and transversal pressure, which modifies the characteristics of the superconductors, especially of Nb3Sn. The paper explains the effects of the stresses on the critical currents, taking a NET superconductor reduced-scale model made of Nb3Sn as an example. (orig.)

In toroidalen Magnetsystemen fuer Fusionsreaktoren werden die Supraleiter hohen axialen Zug- und transversalen Druckspannungen ausgesetzt, die die characteristischen Daten dieser Leiter veraendern. Das gilt besonders fuer Nb3Sn. Darum soll hier die Abhaengigkeit des kritischen Stromes von axialen und transversalen Spannungen fuer NET-Leiter aus Nb3Sn im reduzierten Massstab gezeigt werden.
