Description
The validity of microcanonical simulation is studied with SU(2) lattice gauge theory with particular stress on the issue of the ergodicity problem. It is found that the hamiltonian flow generates a distribution in good agreement with the microcanonical one even in the weak-coupling region for which the system is close to being integrable. It is also shown that the microcanonical and canonical methods yield results in good agreement not only for the plaquette average but also for the Wilson loop. (orig.)
