Rapidity dependence of anti-proton production in relativistic heavy ion collisions at 14.6 GeV/c per nucleon
Creators
Description
Experiment E859 at Brookhaven National Laboratory is an extension of experiment E802, using additional tracking chambers and a new second-level trigger to provide on-line particle identification, thereby providing better event selection and allowing higher beam intensities to be used. The anti-proton measurements made by E802 have been extended to lower rapidities and the statistics in the y-pt regions already studied have been improved by approximately an order of magnitude. The authors present dn/dy distributions and cross-sections for antiproton production in the rapidity range 0.6 < y < 1.7, for 14.6 GeV/c Si beams on Al and Au targets. In addition, anti-lambda production will be discussed
