Application of research findings in the operation of nuclear plant
Description
The operation of nuclear power plant in the UK has been bakked by research effort supplied from within the utility's own resources. The work has been extremely fruitful, through collaboration with those Departments of CEGB with responsibility for its direct implementation. Examples are given of the way this has been carried out, emphasising both the research and the route for its application. The following topics are selected: Performance of magnox fuel, corrosion of mild steel in magnox reactors, advanced Gas Cooled Reactor performance studies, advanced Gas Cooled Reactor gag vibration problems, Hinkley Point B boiler operation, development of emergency procedures at nuclear plant. Der Betrieb von Kernkraftwerken im Vereinigten Koenigreich wird durch eigene EVU-seitige Forschungstaetigkeit gefoerdert. Diese Arbeiten waren ausserordentlich fruchtbar, und zwar dank der Zusammenarbeit mit jenen Abteilungen des CEGB, die fuer ihre direkte Umsetzung in die Praxis verantwortlich sind. Es werden Beispiele angefuehrt, wie dies durchgefuehrt worden ist, wobei sowohl die Forschungstaetigkeit selbst als auch die Art und Weise, wie ihre Ergebnisse angewandt wurden, besonders hervorgehoben werden. Es wurden die nachstehenden Themen ausgewaehlt: Nutzeffekt des Magnox-Brennstoffs, Korrosion von Weichstahl in Magnox-Reaktoren, Leistungsuntersuchungen des fortgeschrittenen gasgekuehlten Reaktors, Schwingungsprobleme an den Drosselregelorganen des fortgeschrittenen gasgekuehlten Reaktors, Dampferzeugerbetrieb in Hinkley Point B, Entwicklung von Notmassnahmen in Kernkraftwerken.
