Surface treatment of materials against release of gases, especially radioactive gases

Description

A procedure is suggested for treating surfaces of materials such as brick walls or fibreboard so as to prevent radon from leaking from the material into the environment. The material is treated with a penetration coating containing epoxy resins, a curing agent, and water; subsequently, a cement containing pigments and fillers can be applied, and all this is coated with a finishing coat which also contains pigments and fillers. The composition of the coats and the proportioning are given. The surface so treated can be covered with an aluminium foil or with a wallpaper containing a polyvinyl chloride foil. (Z.S.)
