The Framatome ANP advanced reactor designs - P1n5
Creators

Description
To meet future requirements for environmental standards, plant safety and cost-effectiveness, Framatome ANP offers advanced versions of recently installed and operating reactors at Ling Ao (China) and Angra (Brazil), as well as the two new models of water reactors: - The EPR, a pressurized water reactor, is the result of Franco-German cooperation between designers, safety authorities and the main utilities. Its high output (approximately 1500 MWe) makes it especially suitable for the replacement market. - The SWR 1000, a boiling water reactor, rated between 1000 and 1250 MWe, integrates passive safety systems. These systems are particularly appropriate for BWR technology. Both reactors produce electricity at very competitive costs with improved safety characteristics, in particular, against the risk of external hazards. At the same time, Framatome ANP actively pursues the development of more innovative designs (e.g. Gas Cooled Reactors). (authors)
