UV induced trapping in powder and in sintered CaSO4:Tm and CaSO4:Dy

Description

CaSO4:Tm and CaSO4:Dy are both known to possess a dosimetric peak at approximately 2200C. A TL peak at a temperature higher than this dosimetric peak is observed on UV irradiation in powder CaSO4:Tm and CaSO4:Dy and on UV and γ irradiation in sintered CaSO4:Dy. This peak is at ∼ 3300C and ∼ 2800C in powder CaSO4:Dy and CaSO4:Tm respectively and at ∼ 3300C in the sintered pellets of both the materials. It is observed that UV light causes charge trapping as well as phototransfer involving this peak. (author)
