Evaporation residue cross-section measurements for 48TI+142,150Nd, 144Sm systems using HYRA facility

Description

For understanding the reaction mechanism involving heavy compound nuclei, we have performed measurements of the evaporation residue (ER) cross-sections for the (i) 48Ti+150Nd→198Pb, (ii) 48Ti+142Nd→190 Pb and (iii) 48Ti+144Sm→192Po systems leading to compound nuclei around ZCN=82 region. Shell effects may favor the survival probability in a fusion-fission reaction. Here, we investigate the effect of proton shell closure ZCN=82, deformation effects through the ER cross-section measurements. It is conjectured that proton shell closure ZCN=82 may lead to enhanced ER production and may help in the synthesis of heavy nuclei
