Oxygen and carbon isotope investigations of carbonate sediment cores from some polish lakes

Lake sediments are recognized as important source of information on late-Glacial and post-Glacial climatic history of continental areas. It has been demonstrated that δ18O content of lake carbonates can be used to evaluate changes in temperature of the lake in the course of its history. Presented are preliminary results of δ18O and δ13C analyses of carbonate sediment cores taken out from some polish lakes. Results are discussed in connection with other data available for these cores (CaCO3 content, pollen analysis, 14C-dates). Some analytical problems connected with measurements of δ18O and δ13C in lake carbonates are also discussed. (author)
