Natural production of radioactive noble gases in the geosphere
Description
The underground production of radionuclides is due to nuclear reactions with neutrons and as a result of the spontaneous fission of uranium. Reactions with fast neutrons are important for estimating the production of certain noble gases, e.g. argon. The method for calculating the neutron energy spectrum in a given rock is presented. The calculated concentrations of radioactive noble gases are given for several rocks. (author). 17 refs, 6 figs, 6 tabs
