Density corrections in gamma spectrometry of lake sediments

  • 1. Geneva Univ. (Switzerland). Inst. F.-A. Forel

Description

The results of investigations on the influence of sample density on the total counting efficiency coefficient in γ-ray spectrometry of lake sediments are presented. The data suggest the need to improve the density correction in activity calculations for 234Th. The application of the corrections for other isotopes depends on several parameters such as: sample activities, range of sample densities, counting time, calibration errors, etc. (author)
