Analysis of air particulates by radioisotope X-ray fluorescence for air pollution control

Description

XRF Method for analysis of particulates in the air is described. Samples are collected on the filter paper by pumping through it 10 to 400 m3 of air. Measurement equipment consists of Si/Li detector and multichannel analyzer. Excitation of characteristic K or L X-rays is performed with radioisotope sources 241Am, 238Pu, 109Cd and 55Fe. Spectra of X-rays are shown and results of analysis of samples collected in 1973 are given. Three elements Fe, Zn and Pb are determined in the concentration range of 0.01 to 18μg/m3. (author)
