Radioisotope X-ray fluorescence analysis of air particulates and mass samples
Creators
Description
XRF method for analysis of air particulates is described. Samples are collected on the Whatman-41 Filter paper by pumping through it 10 to 400 m3 of air. Measurement equipment consists of Si/Li detector and multichannel analyzer. Excitation of characteristic K or L X-rays is performed with radioisotope sources 238Pu, 109Cd. Spectra of X-rays are given. Three elements Fe, Zn and Pb are determined in the concentration range of 0.01 to 18μg/m3. The second part of the paper presents XRF analysis of moss ash. Standardization and calibration problems are described and detectability curve for elements identified is given. The results are presented of the quantitative analysis of elements Ca, Ti, Fe, Zn, Pb, Sr, Zr. (author)
