[en] In the late 1970-Years, Tracto-Technik developed a very effective radial-shaped percussion system for a geothermal heating, the ECOtherm-System, which was very well accepted by customers. Nowadays, a radial-shaped drilling system, operating some decameters below the surface, was developed by Tracto-Technik, which offers the chance of a very effective drilling for the use of geothermal energy. The main advantage of this development is the reduction of drilling costs by new constructions and new handling possibilities. Drilling processes like the rod connecting or the drill-hole enlargement were solved in other ways as usual, by very time-shortening and effective ways, which are presented in the paper. The new TT-Geothermal radial drilling methods need only a very small but highly effective drilling unit, which reduces the operational drilling cost in a enormous way. All operational drilling steps are reduced to less than a half time as usual. By these GRD-methods, the use of surface-close geothermal energy is simplified and less expansive. (authors)
[en] Beginning 1984, the Swiss Professional Association of Solar Energy Firms (SOFAS) collects data on solar collector and photovoltaic module sales in Switzerland. The data enter the 'Swiss statistics of renewable energy sources' in the annual report of the action programme 'Energy 2000' as well as the 'General energy statistics' of the Swiss government. In this way, the total energy output of solar heating systems (for domestic hot water preparation, space heating, swimming pool heating, and hay drying) as well as that of photovoltaic systems is available since 1993 in Switzerland. [de]Seit 1984 erhebt der Sonnenenergiefachverband Schweiz (SOFAS) Daten zu den Verkaeufen von Sonnenkollektoren und Photovoltaikmodulen in der Schweiz. Diese Daten dienen u.a. der Integration der SOFAS-Statistik in die 'Schweizerische Statistik der erneuerbaren Energietraeger' im Jahresbericht Energie 2000 und in die Schweizerische Gesamtenergiestatistik. Somit werden seit 1993 auf dieser Basis insbesondere die Energieertraege der thermischen (d.h. fuer Warmwasser, Raumheizung, Schwimmbaderwaermung und Heutrocknung) und der photovoltaischen Solaranlagen ermittelt und publiziert. Die installierte Kollektor- bzw. Modulflaeche ist seit Jahren im staendigen Wachsen. [en] This article takes a look at the various eco-power offers that can currently be found on the Swiss electricity market. Various electricity utilities offer ecologically produced power in various qualities under several different names. These range from pure solar power through to various mixes of solar, wind and hydro power. The varying marketing approaches used are discussed. Local utilities have the most success in selling eco-power, whereas a large Swiss supermarket chain had difficulty selling its customers certificates for renewable electricity. This, according to the chain's speaker, was due to the difficulty of explaining the relationship between production certificates and the actual power drawn from the wall socket. [en] The transformation of the energy supply is a worldwide phenomenon. This is reflected in the accelerated pace of growth in the expansion of renewable energies. Their share of global power generation grew from 17.7% in 2007 to 24.3% in 2017. The contribution of renewable energy sources to electricity generation is highest in Central and South America. Africa, the continent with the lowest electrification rate, also has the lowest power generation from renewable sources. Germany ranks third in the worldwide country capacity ranking for wind power, fourth for solar energy and fifth for bio-energy.

Deren Anteil an der weltweiten Stromerzeugung ist von 17,7 % im Jahr 2007 auf 24,3 % im Jahr 2017 gewachsen. Am hoechsten ist der Stromerzeugungsbeitrag Erneuerbarer in Mittel- und Suedamerika. Afrika als Kontinent mit der geringsten Elektrifizierungsrate weist auch die niedrigste Stromerzeugung aus erneuerbaren Energien auf. Deutschland steht im weltweiten Laender-Kapazitaetsranking bei Windkraft an dritter, bei Solarenergie an vierter und bei Bio-Energie an fuenfter Stelle.
[en] This Interview with Klaus Froehlich, professor for Electrical Energy Transport Systems at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ), presents new visionary ideas on how electrical energy could be transported in the future. Assuming that it were possible, a new, 'clean sheet' hybrid system was first developed at the Institute - i.e. working on the assumption that the present power grid did not exist. The new ideas looked at also fulfil other, more recent requirements, such as taking up power feeds from renewable energy sources such as wind power. The modelling methods used and new storage functions investigated are discussed, as are novel combinations of various interconnected energy sources in so-called 'hubs'. International co-operation with further European research centres and universities on the subject is discussed

It discusses present and future system technologies that can be used for thermal applications of solar energy. The importance of correct engineering and planning is stressed.
