[en] In the late 1980s, the country 's oil refineries played an important role in enhancing the economic potential of not only our republic, but also the former Soviet Union.although 4.4 percent of all oil processed at that time was processed here, the industry was ahead of the former soviet oil refining industry by many indicators.Thus, the catalytic cracking and coking facilities at oil refineries of republic were 2.2-3.6 times more powerful than oil refining.The oil industry is one of the main environmental pollution enterprises.Practically the main oil industry facilities -oil extraction, transportation, processing and delivery of products to consumers process are potential sources of environmental pollution.in general, groundwater extracted during oil extraction is a source of anthropogenic radioactive contamination.More precisely, one of the ways in which natural radionuclides enter the environment is also associated with oil production and refining.Tense radioecological conditions have also been reported in some chemical and petrochemical industries.In our country for many years, in some cases, non-observance of elementary sanitary norms during oil production has caused the creation of oil and water pollution zones in separate places.
[en] In the design of complex objects, modular principles are of great interest. That approach has both negative and positive consequences. It clearly affects the cost of acquiring the required stock of equipment and, in particular, the spare parts necessary for its maintenance. Optimization of the modular structure of industrial equipment may best be approached in economic terms. Smart information systems for the support of management decisions prove very useful. A structure is proposed for such a system. Examples of such optimization in the aviation industry are presented, and practical experience is noted.
[en] Nuclear industry uses digital tools to a large extend to improve its competitiveness, to accelerate innovation cycles and to be attractive to young engineers and technicians. To face big challenges like EDF's Big Review program or reactor dismantling projects, digital 3-dimension twins of nuclear installations have been built thanks to photos and on-site laser scanning. Another use of digital tools appears as a great time-saver in the management of controls and tests of equipment: all the documentation (texts, photos, present and previous results, certificates,...) have been entered in an application that generates a technical report and draws a synthesis automatically. [en] Many industries that are engaged in potentially hazardous endeavours involve systems that consist of a complex array of subsystems that must work together effectively in order for the entire system to perform successfully. To the extent the subsystems are coupled, changes in any one subsystem can affect some or all of the other subsystems. The US commercial aviation industry, in its continuing endeavour to improve safety, is using a collaborative approach to accomplish ‘system think’ — an awareness of the impacts throughout a system of changes in any of its subsystems. The industry accomplished system think by bringing all of the key parts of the industry together to work in a collaborative manner to identify and address potential safety concerns. The collaborative approach resulted in a reduction of 83% in the US commercial aviation fatal accident rate in only ten years. It also demonstrated that, contrary to conventional wisdom, safety improvements usually undermine productivity, while safety improvements that result from a collaborative approach can simultaneously improve productivity. The purpose of the paper is to help other industries that are engaged in potentially hazardous endeavours determine whether a collaborative approach might help them manage their safety risks more efficiently and effectively. [en] Innovation is the guiding principle of most enterprises. At Orano Melox site a FabLab has been installed to accelerate innovation. This FabLab is equipped with 3D laser printers, a laser cutting machine, tools for virtual reality and there is also an electronic bench. This FabLab is run by a dynamic team and is open to all employees and subcontractors. It eases a quick testing of new ideas and will favor creativity through discussions with people from different backgrounds and enterprises. Being innovative means also being able to implement on-the-shelf new technologies that can improve the competitiveness of the enterprise. For instance Orano has chosen the Vokkero system that allows an efficient communication between workers in very noisy environments. (A.C.)
[en] Ontario Power Generation Nuclear (OPGN) has improved the Asset Management program that will support effective decision-making for the long-term management of station assets. In using existing actions identified in Condition Assessments and Life Cycle Plans to provide the technical basis to support investments, coupled with benchmarking from other nuclear utilities, OPGN is in the process of defining an optimal integrated Asset Management process. To support this initiative, OPG has adapted the Integrated Life Cycle Management (ILCM) software developed by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Copperleaf C55 to help better define asset end-of-life (EOL) that will allow for investment optimization based on risk. Results generated from ILCM are transferred to C55, along with other information within Life Cycle Plans, Condition Assessments, Cash flows and Risk information. C55 will be used to optimize investments to help manage the long-term needs and to help determine an optimum replacement or refurbishment time. (author)
[en] Three-dimensional (3D) printing technology, with additive manufacturing, can aid in the production of various kinds of patient-specific medical devices and implants in medical fields, which cannot be covered by mass production systems for producing conventional devices/implants. The simulator-based medical image demonstrates the anatomical structure of the disease, which can be used for education, diagnosis, preparation of treatment plan and preoperative surgical guide, etc. The surgical guide is used as a patient-specific medical device for guiding incision, resection, insertion, and marking. As 3D printers can output materials that can be inserted into the human body, the patient-specific implant device that reflects the patient's anatomy and surgical plan could be of relevance. In addition, patient-specific aids, including gibs, splints, prostheses, and epitheses, could be used for a better outcome. Finally, bio-printing is also used to cultivate cells to produce functional artificial tissues
