[en] KAERI has been supplying all of HANARO fuels needed for HANARO operation based on the centrifugal atomization technology since successful localization of HANARO driver fuel in 2005. In addition, KAERI has completed the development of U-Mo plate-type fuel and UAlx fission Mo target, which will be applied to Ki-Jang reactor, and established the fabrication facility and equipment. This project consists of 3 sub-projects: development of plate-type fuel and target for research reactor, fabrication of HANARO fuels, and operation of advanced fuel science building. The research contents of the projects are follows. 1) Acquisition on nuclear fuel manufacturing license of plate-type fuel and FM target, 2) Establishment of mass production system for plate-type fuel and target, 3) Prototype production of plate-type fuel and FM target with pilot scale, 4) Fabrication of HANARO driver fuel assemblies: 48 sets, and issuing certificate of conformance, 5) Taking the statutory inspection and acquisition/operation of ISO 9001 quality management system, 6) Receiving training related on quality program and education prescribed by law, 7) Periodic inspection for facilities and utility equipment (No accident for 12 years since 2006), 8) User interface meeting for strengthening utilization of the advanced fuel science building. Based on the achievements of the project, KAERI will supply the nuclear fuel and FM target to HANARO and Ki-Jang research reactor. In addition, we plan to promote export of the fuel and FM target to the research reactor to be constructed as well as the overseas research reactors such as OPAL(Australia), JMTR(Japan), and SAFARI(South Africa)

[en] To secure international transparency which should be preceded by for supporting national nuclear research and industry, the development of nuclear forensic techniques is necessary in addition to capability of analyzing nuclear material at trace amount in environmental samples. With this project, we established international connections via ITWG and PCG and successfully conducted round robin tests related with nuclear forensics, such as CMX and TTX. On the other hand, we developed characteristic evaluation techniques for lanthanide and minor elements in rock samples and interpretation techniques for elemental distribution patterns. We also developed Rb and Sr separation technique and evaluation technique of 8'7Sr/86Sr isotopic characteristics which can be used for tracking history of samples. Similarly, we developed Nd and Sm separation technique among lanthanide group and evaluation technique of 147Nd/144Nd isotopic characteristics which can be used for tracking history of samples. These accomplishments can be utilized to strengthen international transparency of national nuclear research and industry, and also establish national nuclear forensic technology
[en] After 60 years of development, China has established its integrated technical system of uranium mining and metallurgical industry which is suitable for the characteristics of Chinese uranium resources. In recent years, the rapid development of Chinese nuclear power has given rise to an urgent demand for natural uranium products which enhances the innovation and development of Chinese uranium mining and metallurgy. This paper introduces the latest research and development progress of uranium conventional mining and metallurgy, heap leaching, in-situ leaching, in-place leaching, safety and environmental protection, and comprehensive recovery of polymetals associated with uranium in China. And the R&D direction of Chinese uranium mining and metallurgy is proposed.

[en] The fourteen states including Korea are participating in the 4th Generation IV International Forum (GIF) to discusses the international cooperation among member states for the Advanced Nuclear Energy System. Korea has acceded to the two System Arrangements since 2006: Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor(SFR) and Very High Temperature Reactor(VHTR). In order to enhance the linkage between these international collaborative research activities and national R&D activities, strengthening our leading role in the GIF International Collaboration is important. In particular, since Korea was appointed as the GIF Vice Chair(VC) in May 2016, supporting the activities of the key post should be required. This research supported the activities of the 43rd and 44th GIF Policy Group(PG) meetings and the GIF VC via GIF Task Force, In particular, the status of international joint research on future nuclear energy systems was identified in the PG meetings. In order to facilitate the joint research and enhance the role of Korea in the GIF, the Korean VC was leading structuring the Research and Development Infrastructure TF(RDTF) to be newly established. In addition, this research supported the activities of the Korean VC in GIF Chairman’s Conference Call(GCT) held during the research period. Through supports for the activities of the Korean VC in this study, we would provide a foundation for Korean experts to participate in international high-level activities. In addition, The strengthened Korea’s leadership in GIF Joint Research Projects would play a role in establishing the feasibility and performance capabilities of the next generation nuclear energy systems

[en] This publication aims at analysing the impact of a new incentive mechanism (a bonus for participative financing in tendering on renewable energies) on the participative financing sector of energy transition. Three main stakes are identified and discussed: the territoriality of financing and a reserve of investors, an accessibility to the bonus for large renewable energy projects, and an adaptation to capital-based investment tools. Finally, the publication outlines the upswing of actors of participative financing, the need for a support citizens, and an increased role of local communities.
[en] To support the development of anaerobic digestion (AD) and organise strategic thinking at national level about research and development needs, ADEME has supported the creation of this strategic 'Anaerobic Digestion' road-map. Its objectives include: - highlighting the industrial, economic, societal and environmental challenges of the industry's development; - creating long-term, consistent, shared visions of AD; - identifying scientific, technological, organisational, economic, financial, sociological, cultural and psychological obstacles and obstacles relating to public policies and measures; - highlighting the requirements and priorities for research, development and innovation (RDI) to promote and support the development of the industry in France. These needs can then act as a basis for structuring national RDI provision by bringing together: - research planning within ADEME and other institutions such as the French National Research Agency (ANR), the French National Alliance for the Coordination of Energy Research (Ancre), the National Research Alliance for the Environment (AllEnvi) and local authorities (regional councils, cities etc.); - and the research carried out by public and private RDI organisations. These research and experimentation priorities are based on the visions and obstacles identified. They also take into account French capacities in the fields of research and industry. The road-map aims to provide a reference for all RDI stakeholders on the subject of AD. This collective production is the culmination of six months of consultation with a panel of seventeen experts organised by ADEME.
