[en] The final shutdown of Superphenix is the first example of the decommissioning of a large NPP in France. The socioeconomic impact on the workforce and the community, as well as the management of human resources, is likely to be quite representative of the decommissioning of a plant in the Electricite de France (EDF) group. However, there are also some unique aspects of this case, mainly due to specific technical aspects and the unanticipated shutdown decision
[en] The precursor program was started by Electricite de France in 1994, after an investigation of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Accident Sequence Precursor Program. Since then, reported operational events identified as Safety Outstanding Events have been analyzed whenever possible using probabilistic methods based on probabilistic safety assessment. Analysis provides an estimate of the remaining protection against core damage at the time the incident occurred. Measuring the incidents' severity enables to detect incidents important regarding safety. Moreover, the most efficient feedback actions can be derived from the main accident sequences identified through the analysis.Therefore, incident probabilistic analysis provides a way to assess priorities in terms of treatment and resource allocation, and so, to implement countermeasures preventing further occurrence and development of the most significant incidents. As some incidents cannot be analyzed using this method, probabilistic analysis can only be one among the methods used to assess the nuclear power plants' safety level. Nevertheless, it provides an interesting complement to classical methods of deterministic studies. (author)
[en] Due to development of nuclear energy in France, CEA has a long experience in nuclear robotics. It started from remote handling in hot cells and extended to inspections in nuclear reactors, intervention with vehicles, decommissioning of experimental plants, maintenance and intervention in reactors and reprocessing plants. Existing equipments, which are briefly described, show present status of performances for these applications. Research activities are going-on to develop this potential. Main aspects of recent advances in nuclear robotics are detailed to show that each application has some relevance with fusion remote handling needs. In this panel of activities, fusion would profit more directly from reprocessing and reactor maintenance studies, Computer Aided Teleoperation and advanced manipulators developments. But all the projects in nuclear and servicing robotics may have spin-offs for fusion and mention to Eureka projects will underline the necessity for European cooperation in this field. [en] The Ursuya Mount is one of the main water supplies of the Northern Basque Country. A study is being conducted since 2009 on this aquifer in order to improve the knowledge on its potential and its hydrodynamics properties. Two hydrological cycles are required to get the necessary data to meet the following objectives: clarifying the aquifer potential of the site both quantitatively and qualitatively; determining the geographic and seasonal variations; understanding the origin and the flow pattern of the groundwater; evaluating the groundwater residence times and the areas of preferential recharge. Here, we present only some geochemical and isotopic data. Thus, structural or hydrodynamic approaches will not be discussed.
