AbstractAbstract
[en] Staining method in mineral identification process is based on stains effect on mineral by certain chemical solution. K feldspar stains are characteristically yellow colour, plagioclase is pink or red, cardierite is deep red and muscovite is yellowish, but paragonite is unstained. Sometimes stains depend on rock condition and minerals position on thin section. Furthermore it can be developed to petrofabric studies. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] At present, axle units of freight cars undergo a complete checkup with disassembling and visual inspection of the bearing parts every five years. During an annual interim checkup, external inspection of an axle box with removed cap is carried out and the lubricant condition is checked. The state of the rolling surfaces of bearings during an interim checkup should be assessed using the known methods of nondestructive testing. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Albanian researchers have used X-rays to discover who painted a delicate, centuries-old masterpiece of Saint George, one of Christianity’s most famous saints. Their methods included non-destructive testing (NDT) and non-destructive assay (NDA) involving X-rays, which are widely used to study materials and the quality of objects, from analysing cultural artefacts and biomedical samples like blood and hair, to finding cracks or cavities in oil pipes and aeroplane parts.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper presents the results of the study aimed at determining the elastoplastic properties of an Al/Cu bimetallic sheet consisting of aluminum and copper layers, which were joined by cold rolling. The values of elasticity coefficients in three orthotropic planes as well as the Kirchhoff modulus, and coefficient of internal friction in the perpendicular direction to the lamination were determined. The subjects of the analysis were also the values of limit stresses, uniform energy of elastic and plastic strain per unit volume, and coefficients of the hardening curve and normal anisotropy. The tests were carried out on bimetallic specimens with varying thicknesses of the copper layer, cut from the Al/Cu sheet in the direction of rolling and in the direction perpendicular to it. Two methods of determining the directional values of mechanical parameters were used in the tests, i.e., the uniaxial quasi-static tensile test and the dynamic acoustic resonance method. It was concluded that these methods made it possible to determine directional elastoplastic properties of the Al/Cu bimetallic sheet taking into account the variable share of components in the bimetal and the direction of cutting out specimens from cold-rolled sheet.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Devices and installations are described forming a system of subsidiary mechanical equipment and means of automatization for testing hot-rolled ferromagnetic steel pipes in the finishing line of ''140'' pipe-rolling mill. The main features of the system are as follows: it is equipped with automatic control devices which supply objective information on the quality of the pipes; the non-destructive test equipment is automatic, thus rapid and reliable; auxiliary joints and devices are unificated, so that the separate stages of control can be quickly re-organized. A computer collects and stores information on tested pipes of the rolled lot and can supply it type-written. Computer-treated results of tests during a certain period, if analysed with regard for smelting and rolling technology, may be used as technological advice on improvement of production and may probably provide for savings on steel deformation processes

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this study an in situ pore size measurement method was developed to determine the pore size changes of high density polyester woven fabrics under biaxial loading. This unique method allows the non-destructive testing of the pore sizes under biaxial loading. Changes in the pore size distributions of samples were in situ determined with the newly developed method. The results show that the developed measurement method is very promising to define the pore size changes of barrier textiles in situ under loading. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The method described in this paper deals with the forces and torsional moments distribution in cardan shaft. Two major difficulties occur in performing this method: Since the values of forces and moments cannot be directly measured, they are inferred from strain measuring of the cardan shaft, foil strain gauges are used. However, they are only the pure data in a research laboratory, and it would be very interesting to compare them with the data obtained on actual mobile machine wheel-type tractor. (orig.)
