[en] Full-text: From the mid-90s to the present, emphasis has been placed on the delivery of R&D results to target groups where aspects of commercialization and technology transfer are important. Projects that can be utilized by the community / community directly are indeed encouraged. Community projects in the early stages mostly started with high-tech input, they were then adapted to local conditions. This paper discusses the development of two innovative products namely chocolate products containing tongkat ali and ginseng extracts and Volvariella tea products, technology transfer of innovation products to the community through learning methods and acquiring skills through training and online sales and marketing training for new income generation efforts. Chocolate innovation products containing tongkat ali and ginseng extracts derived from roots grown in bioreactors were introduced to the community of 150 project participants comprising Puspanita members, wives from support groups and urban poor communities consisting of single mothers, housewives, the disabled (OKU) and low-income groups around the Klang Valley. Participants have undergone intensive practical training in series in the production of chocolate products as well as in online marketing at the Malaysian Nuclear Agency. Volvariella tea innovation product is a tea product that uses Volvariella volvacea mushroom and has been introduced to the community in Kampung Rembang Panas, Juasseh, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. A total of 25 participants consisting of the villagers were interested and underwent Volvariella volvacea mushroom cultivation training, volvariella tea production and online sales and marketing training. With this effort, the products introduced can be used by the community to generate revenue by means of bulk production and online sales and marketing. The new knowledge and skills acquired enable the community to move forward to develop the family economy and subsequently the emergence of entrepreneurs among them. (author)
[en] This paper contrasts how business cooperation at the level of R and D, the size and the membership in printing industry determine the participation of innovative manufacturing companies in the systems of public support for innovation. Material and methods. From the microdata of the survey on technological innovation 1998-2000, of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), a database is created by the manufacturing Spanish companies involved in innovation. Afterwards, by univariate and multivariate statistical methods, we contrast whether cooperation, size and membership in printing industry determine the participation of the manufacturing innovative companies in the systems of public support for innovation, as well as the direction of that conditioning. Results. The tests carried out indicate that more cooperation between companies at the level of a larger size have a positive influence on the degree of business involvement in the systems of public support for innovation.Discussion. Public administrations seek to foster the development of innovation among manufacturing companies facilitating by providing funds to the companies that cooperate in the area of I and D. Likewise, public support for innovation are targeting in larger firms, while the companies, belonging to the printing industry have less likely to obtain public funding for their innovative projects that the remaining companies of the Spanish manufacturing sector. [en] Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has published more than twenty-thousand technical reports on the internet to provide detailed results of research and development activities. In JAEA technical reports, detailed results, experimental data, findings etc. are recorded. Technical report is effective for communication among scientists and engineers for research development in a big science like nuclear research. The number of downloads of JAEA technical reports is over 4.7 million per a year. Technical reports have many advantages for carrying research results of big projects than journal articles. It is also useful for knowledge management to transfer research results and achievements to the following generation. To improve JAEA technical reports to meet the needs of scientists and engineers and assisting the knowledge management is proposed. (author)
[en] This research proposes a conceptual model for Knowledge Services Structure applicable to Science and Technology Parks (STP) and targeted to micro, small and medium enterprises, in order to improve the business - university - research centers relationship. The idea emerged from exploratory studies on STP and the observation of a knowledge gap on this subject: academic studies that have proposed support services structures to link companies - university - research centers in STP were not available. The study methodology is composed by: exploratory studies complemented by action research. Five aspects of analysis (knowledge services, business development, ordinary/ S and T infrastructure services, expansion of area, and image / visibility) were chosen; a questionnaire based on the these aspects were elaborated and applied by e-mail (e-survey), using as data-base the IASP associated members for the selection of potential respondents. The questionnaire was answered by STP managers from different countries (Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, United Kingdom, China, Brazil, Turkey and Uruguay) and, for a deeper and better answers understanding, presential interviews were conducted in certain European STP. After presentation, analysis and discussion of the results, a conceptual model of knowledge service structure for STP has been made, using as basis the Technology Park of Sao Paulo structure. During the formulation of the conceptual model stage, a brief discussion on the importance of knowing and meet the customer needs meant on the inclusion of a customer-interface in the final model. [en] The world is at the dawn of a new industrial revolution that will fundamentally change the way we live and work. Many consider this the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). While the First Industrial Revolution (1IR) mechanized production using water and steam power, the second one brought mass production using electric power, and the third one was characterized by automation and digitization, mainly using electronics and information technology. The 4IR is building upon the third one, but the difference, and its main contribution, is the fusion of technologies that are blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological worlds. This is further enhanced by the emerging progress of technology in fields such as quantum computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual assistants, the Internet of Things, self-driving cars, drones, 3-D printing, nanotechnology, biotechnology, traffic and security monitoring systems, and renewable energy. This paper examines the potential impact of the emerging 4IR on grey literature (GL) and is based on analysis of the most prevalent current trends and developments in “cyber-physical systems” that connect machines, computers and people. It will examine the need to rethink the definition of GL, its creation and publication types, processing, sustainability and usability. Given the magnitude of the potential impact of the 4IR on GL, the question is what challenges the 4IR will pose to GL managers. One could assume that the acquisition of new knowledge and skills, and the revamping of existing processes and methods will be necessary. Becoming aware of this new phenomenon is only the beginning. It needs to be followed up by professional development and adequate training. Finally, the job of GL professionals will be to promote and publicize the usefulness and importance of GL, not only in their daily work, but also in research and science. (author)
