[en] Slovenske elektrarne, a subsidiary of the ENEL Group, finished Mochovce NPP Unit 2 general outage on 28 October by re-phasing the generators to the electric grid. This mid-term outage took a longer time than usual, and was the last outage of this year´s planned general outages of Slovak nuclear power plants. The mid-term outage was exceptional because of the external reactor pressure vessel inspection performed once every 8 years.
[en] Unlike in previous years, in this year there were Units 3 and 4 of the Bohunice V2 NPP shut down for their outage differently. It is a rule in the Bohunice NPP that after completion of the Unit 4 Outage, there follows the Unit 3 Outage. This year the outages overlap during several days. At first on April 23, an extended general outage of Unit 4 started in duration of one and a half of the month. Due to necessary repairs of common equipment, both units are shut down from the middle of May until the middle of June. Then the outage of Unit 4 will be completed and the outage will continue in Unit 3. This time, during 22 days lasting extended Unit 4 Outage, we also shut down Unit 3 for the general outage in line with the plan. Such a planned outage of both units is rare occurring once in 10 - 15 years.
[en] The Suppliers’ Day has become an exceptional opportunity to take a look at the fruits of our work, as well as the issues we face, to look for solutions how to remedy them, and to explain all the changes affecting our business. It stands for a call to make cooperation better, in these words the director for procurement of Slovenske elektrarne, Giorgio Tatta, opened the event at ITC Mochovce, held on May 14. According to the CEO and the Chairman of the Board of Directors for SE, Nicola Cotugno, it represents an opportunity to talk so as to head towards a common target and clarify joint priorities. The company is still doing well, even though the market conditions are getting tougher. The market has indeed become a great challenge. We must keep getting better. This is not a crisis, but a new situation that we have to come to terms with.
[en] MO34 is a strategic project both for SE and Slovakia. It has significant direct, indirect and induced economic benefits, and is also the guarantee of Slovakia´s energy self-sufficiency, renewal of industrial infrastructure, carbon-free production, and scientific and research development. The share of individual countries in contracts is 54% from Slovakia, 21% from the Czech Republic and one tenth from Italy. Based on time schedule, the MO34 project is being implemented better than the other two projects in Europe.
[en] Jaroslav Holubec is the new Director for Generation at Slovenske elektrarne. What are your feelings upon leaving the position of Nuclear Power Plants Operations Director? Satisfied that the position will be taken over by someone who can do the job. The point of creating a unit for the operation of nuclear power plants back in 2010 was to implement changes in the running of a nuclear establishment, changes in processes, as well as changes in people’s minds. At present the architecture of the organizational structure is such that the power plant can receive effective support in terms of specific nuclear processes. It was even John Moares, the former chairman of the International Advisory Board of SE for nuclear safety, who said that many nuclear power companies would envy our corporate structure with a training unit and people working at the plants. He perceived the fact that SE enabled this as progress. So, now we have a well-functioning organization, and from July 1 I will hand over the running of the nuclear power plant operation to the current director of the Bohunice V2 nuclear power plant, Milan Molnar. His position will be filled by the manager for works, Martin Mraz.

He comes from Levice, and graduated from local Secondary School of Andrej Vrabel. Then he decided to study nuclear physics in 2007 - 2012 at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Department of Nuclear Reactors. The locality inspector´s tasks include mainly the state supervision of the nuclear safety of Research and innovation will be two of the key elements of the proposed European Energy Union supporting technologies to drive European power transformation including renewable energy sources, intelligent nets, trapping and storage of hydrogen and nuclear, said Miguel Arias Canete, E U Commissioner for climate change and energy in Washington. The European Committee will present the details of the Power Union in late February. He said Europe will “double its effort” to diversify power supplies, resources, and routes in order to ensure secure energy. Nuc Net nuclear installations; it focuses on primary and secondary circuit systems and safety systems, including their sub-systems and I and C and power supply, independent performance of expert specialised works requiring the analysis of nuclear safety issues of the nuclear installations, and the review and assessment of documentation submitted to NRA SR.

[en] The general assembly of SE, a company of the ENEL Group, held in Bratislava on May 25, approved the financial results for 2014 and elected new members of the board of directors and supervisory board. Our strong results confirm that the strategy for increasing efficiency across all the company’s activities has been correct, and that our trading in the market and management of the deployment of various types of power plants are successful, despite a further decline in electricity prices, said CEO and chairman of the board of directors for SE, Nicola Cotugno. He also added: In 2015 we will continue activities focused on attaining similarly favourable results and our investment strategy, where completion of the third and fourth units of Mochovce nuclear power plant is our strategic priority.
[en] A representative of the Slovak Republic was elected chairperson of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency for the period September 2014 – September 2015. This appointment means the high appreciation and acknowledgment of Slovakia´s role in the nuclear agenda. The Board of Governors will be chaired by the Governor appointed by the Slovak government, Ms. Marta Ziakova, Chairperson of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency. The Board of Governors is one of the two main IAEA bodies. The position of IAEA BoG Chairperson enables the SR to confirm and emphasize its position as a funded, experienced and, foremost reliable partner for the peaceful use of atomic energy. Slovak Republic could offer expertise and experience while being a partner for the development of its own nuclear programme.
[en] To continue to use the existing functional and efficient system of district heating supply from the Bohunice V2 nuclear power plant is one of the objectives of the Trnava City Energy Concept (EKM). This is also due to the planned maintenance of V2 NPP in the coming years. The program was created nine years ago. At its meeting on 17 February, the city council adopted its update to 2020.
