[en] The sustainability of specific technology became the important issue in future developement perspective as the environmental issue occupies the most priority in adopting the relevant technology. This study summarizes the concepts of sustainable development and analyses the nuclear future under the pressure of sustainable development. Also, it shows the fields that need the concentrated research in nuclear power

[en] This paper analyzes the trends and perspectives of U.S.'s nuclear polices. With the changing of the administration of U.S., certain changes in nuclear policies are foreseen under Bush's new administration. Considering the traditional basis of republicans, somewhat positive impacts on nuclear R and D and nuclear power program are expected

[en] This paper suggested a new framework for assessing seismic risk in PSAs. The framework used the concepts of requirement and achievement in the reliability physics. The quantified correlation which is a function of the requirement variable (hazard curve) and the achievement variable (fragility curve) results in a quantity, the unconditional frequency of exceeding a damage lelvel. This framework can be applied to any other external safety assessment, such as Fire and Flood Risk in PSAs

[en] A microwave lens in designed which consists of a number of small wave-guides drilled in a solid plane metal disk. With increasing radius, the wave-guides in the lens become smaller in diameters, so the phase velocity will increase towards the edge which produces a focusing effect for microwaves. The focal length is 450mm at 75GHz and its spatial resolution is less than 5cm

Development of the effective solid angle program for the calculation of the absolute peak efficiency
AbstractAbstract
[en] For the calculation of the absolute peak efficiency of the HPGe detector, we developed the ESA(Effective Solid Angle) program that takes into account the attenuation of the gamma-rays in the source and the interjacent absorbers between the detector and the source. The validation of the program is accomplished by comparison with the data of Moens et al. in the case of the close-ended coaxial HPGe detector and cylindrical source

[en] The Schumpeterian growth theory with technology innovation and the 4th generation R and D system to build the efficient R and D system are analyzed and some important factors to do practice in the current nuclear R and D are summarized. The factors are asserted to be mentioned in this paper are twofold: first, the necessity of current nuclear R and D system improvement and of national innovation system are described in macroscopic point of view; and second, the necessity of dominant technology and technology diffusion and internal architecturing and forming capability are described in microscopic point of view
