AbstractAbstract
[en] The nuclear safety cultural competency model should be supplemented through a bottom-up approach such as behavioral event interview. The developed model, however, is meaningful for determining what should be dealt for enhancing safety cultural competency of nuclear organizations. The more details of the developing process, results, and applications will be introduced later. Organizational culture include safety culture in terms of its organizational characteristics

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper includes the descriptions for the important models and the calculation steps of the PENTAP program, which was developed by KAERI. PENTAP can evaluate the possible penetration tube failure modes such as a weld failure, a tube ejection, a creep by tube heat-up and a long term tube failure under the given accident conditions. In addition, this paper shows the sensitivity results for each failure mode depending on its influencing parameters

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this paper, the pressure losses through axisymmetric sudden expansions with a chamfer are analyzed by means of numerical simulation, with an emphasis on the effect of the Reynolds number. In this study, we investigate numerically the turbulent flow in axisymmetric sudden expansions having a slight chamfer on the edge. With the aim of investigating the impact of Reynolds number on the expansion losses in a time-averaged sense, an extensive set of simulations is carried out. On the basis of numerical results, we also propose a general correlation to estimate the local loss coefficient in sudden expansions with a chamfer

[en] A heavy-ion accelerator facility is under a development in Korea to use in the basic science research and various application areas. In this facility, the In-Flight Fragment (IFF) target and isotope separator has been designed to produce various isotopes and transport the interesting isotopes into the experimental rooms. In this work, preliminary radiation shielding assessment was performed for the IFF target room

AbstractAbstract
[en] As compared to the earlier microbeam systems employing mono-energetic charged particles or characteristic X-rays, our system utilizes bremsstrahlung X-ray beam carrying energy of up to 450 keV. Automatic control of beam opening in micron scale has been realized for a hard x-ray beam. The beam is accompanied with a penumbra of limited size. Dose profiling also has been performed in a micron scale precision. The automatic system for sequential delivery of microbeam has been observed to be precise in beam collimation and stable in beam intensity control

AbstractAbstract
[en] The electrokinetic decontamination equipment and electrokinetic-elctrodialytic decontamination equipment were manufactured to decontaminate the contaminated soil. The removal efficiency according to the lapsed time by the electrokinetic decontamination equipment and the electrokinetic-elctrodialytic decontamination equipment was investigated through several experiments. The difference between the removal efficiency of the electrokinetic-elctrodialytic decontamination without anion exchange membrane and that of with anion exchange membrane was investigated through several experiments. In addition, the removal efficiency trend according to different cesium radioactivity of soil was drawn out through several experiments

AbstractAbstract
[en] The neutronic analysis for the High Temperature Engineering Test Reactor (HTTR) has been performed. The HTTR is a graphite-moderated and helium gas cooled reactor with an outlet temperature of 950 .deg. C and thermal output of 30 MW. It has been studied as one of the Generation-IV (Gen-IV) reactor. In this study, the DECART code is used with a 190-group KARMA library. The calculation results are compared with those of the McCARD with ENDFB/VII.0 library

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this study, the chronic exposure of cells to acid culture medium, prior or posterior to irradiation, has been investigated for its effect on clonogenic cell survival. Unconventional high-dose radiation therapy, such as SRS, SBRT and MRT, may cause severe vascular damage in tumors, thereby a number of tumor cells facing chronic hypoxia and thus acidosis. According to our observation, gliosarcoma cells become more vulnerable to radiation damage by chronic exposure to acidic condition before irradiation. The longer the preirradiation exposure is, the more vulnerable to radiation damage the cells become. However, the repair of PLD by post-irradiation exposure to acid medium is efficient enough to eliminate the difference in number of the cells carrying PLDs due to different durations of preirradiation exposure to acidic condition

AbstractAbstract
[en] In CT(Computed Tomography) technology, image reconstruction is important and necessary process. And today, for better image quality even if low dose and limited angle, iterative reconstruction is becoming significant part. In order to adjust iterative reconstruction, projection/backprojection processes are essential parts. Therefore in this paper, 3 approaches for projection/backprojection simulation study are introduced and compared. Projection/backprojection were successfully implemented in 3 approaches. In this result, distance-driven approach showed the images having no artifacts compared to pixel-driven and ray-driven approaches. So it is expected to get images having better quality when using iterative reconstruction
