[en] Rotational fuel shuffling was tried in the burning wave fast reactor concept with movement of burning wave for radial direction to make the stable radial power density profile. The result of preliminary analysis showed the possibility to achieve it. It is possible achieve equilibrium condition with almost constant excess reactivity and stable power density profile in the core. (author)

Principles and essence of basic methods of BREST-OD-300 reactor equipment cost estimation are disclosed. Iterative approach to the assessment of the main BREST-OD-300 reactor equipment is presented. [en] The construction of Power Unit No. 4 with the BN-800 reactor plant at the Beloyarsk NPP is the crucial stage in the industrial-scale development of the sodium-cooled fast neutron reactors (SFR). Milestones included: - the beginning of works and development of technical solutions; - experimental validation; - equipment fabrication; - sodium technology instrumentation; - installation of the BN-800 reactor plant equipment; - reactor plant equipment adjustment.
[en] Mechanical and thermal properties of uranium-plutonium mixed oxide (MOX) pellets were evaluated by measured sound speeds of longitudinal and transverse waves in the pellets. Specimens with various porosities were prepared and the sound speeds were measured by the ultrasound pulse-echo method. The results showed that Young's modulus was lower in hypo-stoichiometric composition. In addition, Debye temperature was calculated with the measured sound speeds. (author)

[en] The peculiarities of nitride fuel behavior in fast reactors at the stage of fuel-cladding mechanical interaction are shown. The atomistic models of irradiation processes (swelling, gas release), taking into account the phase and structural state of nitride fuel are presented. The calculated data on the behavior of nitride fuel were compared with experimental data, and minimum set of data required for adequate modeling of nitride fuel was proposed. Issues related to the deformation of the cladding and the conditions of its breaching were discussed. (author)
[en] The paper gives the results of variations of short-term mechanical properties after irradiation in fast reactors. An analysis of mechanical characteristics after testing in different loading patterns is carried out. Specimen fracture patterns after different operating conditions are compared. It is concluded that tests with different specimen loading patterns are applicable to predict residual life of claddings. (author)
[en] It is shown in this paper that traditional formulas for reactivity effects calculation based on diffusion approximation small-perturbation theory sometimes need updating. The corresponding specifications are provided. These are caused by the unbalance of neutron leakages between subdomains (zones, cells, fuel subassemblies, etc.) of the reactor as a result of perturbation. The unbalance occurs because of the jumps of relative increments of diffusion coefficients on the subdomain interfaces. (author)
[en] When choosing the NPP for developing countries, a number of requirements to the type of the NPP proposed for use should be taken in account: 1) there must be assured elimination of the severe accident. This is especially viable when the NPP is used in a mode of co-generation; 2) NPP must be export-available; 3) operating the NPP must be most simplified regarding to the requirements to the personnel's qualification etc.
