[en] Local magnetism of Ce in the Kondo lattice compound CeFeGe3 studied by measuring local susceptibility χloc at 140Ce probe site using TDPAC method is presented. The magnitude and temperature dependence of χloc reflect Kondo behaviour with Kondo temperature TK∼150 K

[en] It is shown that the method of changing the flight distance of recoil nuclei in vacuum can be applied to measurements of lifetime and of g-factors for states with a high spin. Scheme of the setup for detecting γ-spectra of recoil nuclei is given

AbstractAbstract
[en] The time-differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) method was applied to a study on the behavior of 140Ce atoms implanted in highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG). Exponential-type gradual attenuation of the directional anisotropy of the relevant γ-ray cascade was observed in the perturbation patterns. From temperature dependence of the relaxation rate, a thermally activated dynamic motion of the probe atoms was suggested. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The infrared spectrum of cerium, excited in electrodeless discharge lamps, has been analysed by means of Fourier spectrometry. By using enriched isotopic mixtures, the isotope shifts 140Ce-142Ce and 136Ce-140Ce have been measured for eight lines corresponding to various configuration pairs (4f25d→4f5d6s, 4f25d→4f5d2, 4f26s→4f5d2, 4f26s2→4f5d6s2). The analysis of the results is carried out by means of the King plot. Peculiarities of the nuclei of cerium as well as of the chosen electronic transitions allow to emphasize the importance of the mass shift in the case of a 4f electron jump and only in this case and the screening effect of the 4f and 5d electrons on the s electrons of the closed shells. Experimental results are compared with theoretical values using Hartree-Fock wavefunctions. (Auth.)
