AbstractAbstract
[en] The level structure of 59Co has been examined using the sum-coincidence technique. Sum-coincidence spectra at 1482, 1434, and 1291.6 keV sum gates were recorded to establish the presence of a weak 189 keV gamma ray between the 1482 and 1291.6 keV states, which is very close to the intense 192 keV gamma ray. AbstractAbstract
[en] The TOOL-IR PDB and COOD systems are compared for the construction of data bases for 59Co-n.m.r bibliographic and spectral data. The spectral data used are the chemical shifts from several different standards, and the line widths and coupling constants (if present). The PDB system is effective for storage and retrieval of bibliographic data, but the COOD system is better for the retrieval of spectral data, and for combination of data files on literature and chemical shifts. AbstractAbstract
[en] Mean values of lifetime for some levels of 59Co have been reported in several publications, but the results of measurement (or estimates) of the lifetime of the 2913-keV level cannot be found in any of these works. The probability of populating this level in the (n, n' γ) reaction is low, but, nevertheless, Kaipov et al. have determined its spin and parity and ascribed the value 7/2+ to these quantities. The authors report a measurement of the lifetime of the 2913-keV level. 8 refs., 1 fig., 1 tab

AbstractAbstract
[en] The lifetime of the first two excited state in Co59 and Cu65 and of the first three excited states in Cu63 have been measured by the Doppler Shift Attenuation Method (DSAM); the levels were Coulomb excited using a beam of oxygen ions from our Tandem Van de Graaff accelerator. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The magnetic superconductor Y9Co7 presents in its structure magnetic and non-magnetic Co atoms. A search is made of the 59Co NMR lines attributed in the literature to magnetic Co atoms, with negative results. For the strong 59Co NMR line arising from nuclei of non-magnetic Co atoms the relaxation times T1 and T2 versus temperature are measured directly at 6.5 and 9.0 MHz. A linear dependence on temperature is observed for 1/T1 which can be attributed to interactions with conduction electrons. 1/T2 is not linear with temperature, an effect that is related to the temperature dependence of the magnetization.
