[en] Jung is responding to the challenge of energy efficiency, ease of operation and economic profitability in all of its solutions for the tertiary sector, whether for newly constructed buildings or refurbishments, for full management of the electrical system or the partial control of lighting, HVAC, mood settings, access control, etc., for the bedrooms or specific areas of the building. In the specific case of hotels, Jung offers each a custom-made solution in line with its possibilities and objectives. (Author)
[en] The optimum maintenance of installations in hotel establishments is becoming increasingly necessary given the complexity and diversity of this type of buildings, with the aim of being efficient in the use of the resources that they consume, such as water and energy. From the owners of the establishments and the companies responsible for the hotel management, to the clients that stay in them, it is vitally important that the operation of its installations is guaranteed at all times, particularly as regards temperature control. Proper preventive maintenance therefore plays an essential role in ensuring that the hotel guests’ experience is as positive as possible. (Author)

[en] Since 26 September 2015, the Ecodesign ErP Directive has been of compulsory application for EU Member States as regards the design of Energy-related Products (ErP) and as from its entry into force only those products manufactured according to the ErP requirements can be sold with the EC label. Although this directive affects over 1,000 product categories, for those relating to HVAC and DHW production, it covers boilers, heat pumps, accumulators, cogeneration systems, combined products systems, establishing their minimum efficiency levels, the maximum levels of NOX emissions, the minimum insulation for accumulators and the maximum level of acoustic emissions for heat pumps. [en] In order to monitor and control the monthly and annual consumption of energy in hotels, different indicators have been proposed. These do not allow allow the rapid detection and mitigation of bad practices and overconsumption, nor do they take into account the influence of physical parameters such as outside temperature, or when they do, they use fairly complex coefficients, which prevents their practical application in most installations. The study analyzes energy performance indicators to evaluate and control the consumption of electricity in hotels, introducing a new one based on the outside temperature. On this basis daily graphs of control are developed that allow a faster detection of the mentioned problems and realize an adequate energy management. The tools were applied in two Cuban hotels of different characteristics, where reductions in annual electricity consumption were achieved in the order of 10% without investments. (author)
[en] Until recently the process of innovation in tourism businesses were characterized by their relation to competitiveness, technology and R and D. Innovation in services is a recent issue, because for many years the belief that it was a bit innovative sector today to environmental problems and the contribution of tourism to them was the use of eco-innovations in the hotel industry appears which causes begin to emerge studies addressing the issue and are published in various scientific journals. Thus, the purpose of this article is a comprehensive review of articles published in 57 journals hospitality and tourism during the 2007-2014 period. Most existing studies on eco-innovation has focused on five areas of research: a) consumer perception towards environmental innovations; b) company-specific factors; c) environmental technologies; d) regulating e) pro-environmental certifications. The analysis shows that the issue of eco-innovation in this sector begins thinly.
[en] Following the sharp increases in the price of energy over the last six years and the increasingly widespread incorporation of installations that offer added value to the establishment but which increase its energy expenditure (spas, swimming pools, gymnasiums, etc.), the hotel sector today is aware of the significance of energy as part of its operating costs. Proof of this is that fact that a large proportion of hotels have undertaken, or are considering carrying out, some form of measure to improve energy efficiency. (Author)
[en] The establishment of building energy consumption quota as a comprehensive indicator used to evaluate the actual energy consumption level is an important measure for promoting the development of building energy efficiency. This paper focused on the determination method of the quota, and firstly introduced the procedure of establishing energy consumption quota of public buildings including four important parts: collecting data, classifying and calculating EUIs, standardizing EUIs, determining the measure method of central tendency. The paper also illustrated the standardization process of EUI by actual calculation based on the samples of 10 commercial buildings and 19 hotel buildings. According to the analysis of the frequency distribution of standardized EUIs of sample buildings and combining the characteristics of each measure method of central tendency, comprehensive application of mode and percentage rank is selected to be the best method for determining the energy consumption quota of public buildings. Finally the paper gave some policy proposals on energy consumption quota to help achieve the goal of further energy conservation. - Highlights: ► We introduce the procedure of determining energy consumption quota (ECQ). ► We illustrate the standardization process of EUI by actual calculation of samples. ► Measures of central tendency are brought into determine the ECQ. ► Comprehensive application of mode and percentage rank is the best method for ECQ. ► Punitive or incentive measures for ECQ are proposed.
