[en] It has been many decades now that knockout reactions have been investigated both theoretically as well as experimentally. The knockout reactions were primarily used as a tool to study the momentum distribution of the knocked out particle in the target nucleus

AbstractAbstract
[en] Damped reactions induced by very heavy ions on heavy targets have been studied. Strong correlations of experimental observables with the kinetic-energy loss suggest a continuous evolution of the reaction mechanism from quasi-elastic to strongly damped collisions. These correlations are employed to deduce experimental deflection functions, reaction times and transport coefficients for nucleon exchange. The time scale provided by the statistical nucleon exchange process is applied to study the energy dissipation mechanism in terms of a diffusion model and a one-body dissipation mechanism. The bombarding energy dependence of the experimental correlations is discussed. (orig.)

(orig.)Primary Subject

AbstractAbstract
[en] We compare the use of asymptotic normalization coefficients (ANC's) and spectroscopic factors determined from peripheral transfer reactions for determining the overall normalization of peripheral direct radiative capture reaction processes. We demonstrate that ANC's provide a natural way to parametrize the rates of both peripheral transfer and direct capture reactions. Furthermore, ANC's inferred from one reaction may be used in the analysis of a second reaction without further knowledge regarding their origin, and independent measurements of a given ANC may be combined to give an overall ''best value'' in a straightforward manner. In contrast, a spectroscopic factor derived from analysis of a peripheral transfer reaction can only be used in subsequent calculations if one has detailed knowledge of the single-particle bound state orbital that was assumed when the spectroscopic factor was obtained

AbstractAbstract
[en] An analysis has been made of experimental data on level spectra, single-nucleon transfer reactions near closed shells, and data on polarization effects in charge-exchange (p, n ) reactions between isoanalogous states of nuclei with even A. The analysis has allowed us to conclude that there is a significant difference between the spin-orbit splittings of neutrons and protons in identical orbitals. This conclusion is confirmed in the framework of different theoretical approaches.

AbstractAbstract
[en] We discuss medium effects in knockout reactions with rare isotopes of weakly-bound nuclei at intermediate energies. We show that the poorly known corrections may lead to sizable modifications of knockout cross sections and momentum dsitributions.
