AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper presents the design and development of a voltage controlled analog 0-90° and 0-360° variable phase shifter at 1.3 GHz using RF vector addition method. In this method the input RF signal is split into four signals in phase quadrature with two neighboring ones by using 3-dB rat-race coupler and 3-dB branch line couplers. Each of these signals is next passed through a voltage controlled FET based attenuator and the four signals are then combined in-phase using a 4 to 1 Wilkinson power combiner to get the phase shifted RF output signal. The control voltages to the four voltage controlled attenuators are applied in a proper method to get the full monotonic phase shift range of 0-360°. The circuit has been designed, simulated and optimized in Advanced Design System (ADS and Momentum software and finally fabricated on microstrip with soft substrate (εr=3.2). The design methodology, simulations and measured results are presented in this paper. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Results are presented during a new region of polarized emission, near the galactic centre. The structure of the region has the form of a central component with two jet-like outer lobes. Total intensity maps of the structure, at 4.75 and 10.7 GHz, show that the core and lobes lie symmetrically with respect to the galactic plane. The symmetry of the region suggests the location of a new ''centre of activity'' within the galactic centre region at the position of the polarized core, although total intensity maps do not distinguish this region at all except at low frequencies. AbstractAbstract
[en] Seventy five maps are presented showing the 5 GHz emission from the galactic plane. The method of observing and the computer reduction of the data are discussed. The telescope resolution is 4.1 minutes of arc to half-power points and the detection limit for point sources is better than 0.5 Jy
