AbstractAbstract
[en] Automatic analysis of radioscopic images can be broken down into the following steps: 1) Preprocessing, 2) flaw segmentation, 3) flaw classification, and 4) assessment of the weld section under consideration. This article exclusively addresses the detection of flaws, which is made difficult by a variety of problems such as the occurrence of seam structures, the possibility of high contrast variations within the flaw, and sometimes very low contrast differences between the flaw and the seam. Based on these problems that may be encountered during segmentation, i.e. during extraction of flaws from the background, firstly different approaches in literature are presented, then newly developed methods for weld seam segmentation are addressed. The following methods have supplied the best results: 1) Cosine transformation within an image window; 2) detection of local extreme values in the image; and 3) analysis of the area around the pixel. AbstractAbstract
[en] Tubes are joined with tube plates in heat exchangers for nuclear power plants such that rings inserted in the tubes are welded to the original joints of the tubes with the tube plates. The space between the rings is filled with cover welds or, in case of double tube plates, the rings are welded to the cover tube plate joined with the flange of the existing tube plate. (B.S.)
