[en] In the present experimental investigation the ability of heated sand as thermoluminescent material for radiation dosimetry is investigated. The present study includes the effect of heating time and temperature, TL-dose relationship, sensitization by predose and heating temperature. Experimental results indicate that the heated sand overresponds to gamma rays relative to the unheated sand. Using the predose technique the heated sand overresponds to the unheated sand by a factor of 90. Hence, the minimum detectable absorbed dose is estimated to be below 10 mrad. Using the predose technique, an unknown previous exposure may be estimated or the age of a heated object may be determined. (orig.)

Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt die Eignung von erhitztem Sand als Thermolumineszenzmaterial fuer Strahlendosimetrie. Die Einfluesse der Dauer der Erhitzung und der gewaehlten Temperatur, das TL/Dosis-Verhaeltnis und die Sensitivierung durch Vorbestrahlung und verschiedene Erhitzungstemperaturen werden untersucht. Es zeigt sich, dass erhitzter Sand staerker auf Gammastrahlen reagiert, als nicht erhitzter Sand. Mit dem Vorbestrahlungsverfahren ergibt sich eine um das 90fache staerkere Reaktion des erhitzten Sandes verglichen mit nicht erhitztem Sand. Hieraus erhaelt man fuer die kleinste nachweisbare absorbierte Dosis einen Wert von weniger als 10 mrad. Mit der Vorbestrahlungsmethode kann andererseits auch eine unbekannte fruehere Bestrahlung bestimmt und in bestimmten Faellen hieraus das Alter der Probe bestimmt werden. (orig.)Source
