AbstractAbstract
[en] The β+-decay of 49Mn(Jsup(π),T = 5/2-,1/2; tsub(1/2) = 384 +- 17ms) has been observed; it exhibits a superallowed branch to its mirror, the 49Cr ground state, and a (6.4 +- 2.6)% allowed branch to the 7/2- state at 272 keV. The deduced Gamow-Teller matrix elements agree very well with shell model calculations that employ a modified Kuo-Brown interaction. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Three examples are presented showing that the ABMR-LIRF method (atomic beam magnetic resonance, detected by laser induced resonance fluorescence) is a very powerful tool for getting information on nuclear deformations. It makes possible hfs studies (hyperfine structure) that were impossible in the past for experimental reasons. (KBE)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In the classical use of a generalized χ2 to determine the evaluated cross section uncertainty, we need the covariance matrix of the experimental cross sections. The usual propagation error method to estimate the covariances is hardly usable and the lack of data prevents from using the direct empirical estimator. We propose in this paper to apply the kriging method which allows to estimate the covariances via the distances between the points and with some assumptions on the covariance matrix structure. All the results are illustrated with the 2555Mn nucleus measurements. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Beta-decay studies of very proton-rich nuclides allow to investigate the phenomenon of quenching of Gamow-Teller transitions. A presentation of the experimental techniques is followed by the discussion of preliminray results of the measurements in comparison to shell-model calculations. A corresponding reinvestigation is discussed. A mass-separated 48Mn beam was used from 12C(40Ca,p3n) reactions. The 48Mn decay spectroscopy was performed simultaneously in two beam lines of the mass separator. (G.P.) 13 refs.; 2 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Analysis of the complex NMR spectra of 55Mn in the hexagonal Laves phase compounds ErMn2 and TmMn2 reveals only a very slight temperature dependence of the 55Mn Knight shift K at either of the two inequivalent lattice sites, in contrast to the Curie--Weiss behavior of the susceptibility of these compounds and their known ferromagnetic ordering properties. In addition, K differs negligibly from that in isostructural ScMn2 which does not order magnetically. Both neutron diffraction and NMR data indicate that Mn carries no local moment, and the Knight shift measurements suggest that K results essentially entirely from the orbital contribution, K/sub orb/. Unlike the case of the LnAl2 cubic Laves phase compounds, for example, the net contribution to K resulting from indirect interaction between 55Mn and the rare-earth moments is relatively small. AbstractAbstract
[en] The magnetic dipole T(M1) and electric quadrupole T(E2) transition probabilities have been obtained from the Coulomb excitation reaction on 55Mn with alpha-particles. The electric quadrupole transition probabilities T(E2) and the corresponding life time have been found for the four excited states of 55Mn. With the aid of measured branching ratios, the magnetic dipole transition probabilities T(M1), the reduced M1 transition probabilities B(M1) and mixing ratios 2 = E2 for 126 and 986 KeV states in 55Mn have been determined. These electromagnetic properties of 126 and 986 KeV states in 55Mn have been found for the first time. These properties are discussed in the light of theory of life-times of nuclear states by D. Kurath. (author)
