AbstractAbstract
[en] Spectral-phase effects were used to develope a technique for isotopic atomic absorption analysis which doesn't use several radiation sources with pure isotopes of analyzed element. This enables to simplify the analysis and achieve the accuracy exceeding several times the traditional methods of spectral isotopic analysis. The limit of determining variation in 198Hg and 202Hg isotope concentration was equal to 0.3%

AbstractAbstract
[en] A filter is described for enriching the 196Hg content of mercury, including a reactor, a low pressure electric discharge lamp containing a fill of mercury and an inert gas. A filter is arranged concentrically around the lamp. The reactor is arranged around said filter, whereby radiation from said lamp passes through the filter and into said reactor. The lamp, the filter and the reactor are formed of quartz, and are transparent to ultraviolet light. The 196Hg concentration in the mercury fill is less than that which is present in naturally occurring mercury, that is, less than about 0.146 atomic weight percent. Hydrogen is also included in the fill and serves as a quenching gas in the filter, the hydrogen also serving to prevent disposition of a dark coating on the interior of the filter. 9 figs

[en] The present invention is directed to an apparatus for use in 196Hg separation and its method of operation. Specifically, the present invention is directed to a nested reactor chamber useful for 196Hg isotope separation reactions avoiding the photon starved condition commonly encountered in coaxial reactor systems. 6 figures

AbstractAbstract
[en] LC-experiments in forward scattering and selective reflection are mostly performed in a longitudinal magnetic field. We have extended the investigations to a transverse field receiving the following results. The zerofield level- and line-crossing shows a different shape. From the line-crossing the isotope shift between Hg 22 and 202 was determined and the applicability of this method discussed. A narrowing of the width of the level-crossing in selective reflection was observed at low pressure. (orig.)

(orig./AK)Primary Subject
