AbstractAbstract
[en] The bound-state energy of the Hulthen potential for l unequal 0 is explicitly derived, correct to the seventh order of the screening parameter lambda. Energies of 2p, 3p, 3d, 4p, 4d and 4f states are computed. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The recent developments of the concept of single particle states are outlined. The modern approaches as well as the main trends of further investigation are briefly considered as offering the ground for the simpler treatments, required when a large amount of data are to be sistematically explained. Finally the results of several recent analyses of the experimental binding energies of single particle states for light and medium weight nuclei, in the frame of the Woods-Saxon potential are presented. These analyses show that the optical potential binding various states, changes smoothly from nucleus to nucleus and, with a proper parametrization of the depth of the potential as function of atomic mass A and the proton-neutron assimtery (N-Z)whole range of nuclei, are well reproduced. AbstractAbstract
[en] We report here on a continuing experimental search for a macroscopic, composition dependent force coupling to ordinary matter. Within the phenomenological framework commonly employed -- a Yukawa representation of the interaction potential, and composition specified as some linear combination of baryon and lepton numbers -- the Index 3 experiment sets the most stringent upper limits yet on the interaction strength for coupling from B-2L to B-L, and for an interaction range from 200 m to 10 km. It is also the first null result to conflict with the marginal detection reported for the Index 1 experiment for all relevant values of the composition and range parameters

AbstractAbstract
[en] Alternative methods for summing the Born series for a scattering process are derived and compared. These include Pade and unitary approximations of the scattering operator and their combinations. The various approximations are applied to an attractive Yukawa potential, and it is shown that most of the unitary and Pade approximations converge much more rapidly than the Born series. A comparison of the methods provides a practical test for convergence at a particular order of the perturbation theory

AbstractAbstract
[en] We predict a direct and observable signature of the superfluid phase in a quantum Fermi gas, in a temperature regime already accessible in current experiments. We apply the theory of resonance superfluidity to a gas confined in a harmonic potential and demonstrate that a significant increase in density will be observed in the vicinity of the trap center

AbstractAbstract
[en] We study experimentally the line of a single quantized vortex in a rotating prolate Bose-Einstein condensate confined by a harmonic potential. In agreement with predictions, we find that the vortex line is in most cases curved at the ends. We monitor the vortex line leaving the condensate. Its length is measured as a function of time and temperature. For a low temperature, the survival time can be as large as 10 sec. The length of the line and its deviation from the center of the trap are related to the angular momentum per particle along the condensate axis

[en] The static isoscalar and the isovector polarizability of deformed nuclei are estimated. The low lying isovector K = +- 1+ modes yield a polarizability peculiar to deformed nuclei. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We compute the gravitational corrections to the running of couplings in a scalar-fermion system, using the Wilsonian approach. Our discussion is relevant for symmetric as well as for broken scalar phases. We find that the Yukawa and quartic scalar couplings become irrelevant at the Gaussian fixed point.
