AbstractAbstract
[en] The declining market for fuel oil due to the gasification of Macedonia will force the Refinery to adapt to the changed market demand. There are three possibilities: (1) to decrease the production of fuel oil by precessing it into higher price products; (2) to find other markets for the fuel oil surplus or (3) to decrease the fuel oil production by decreasing the refinery capacity. The first option is the most acceptable for the Refinery and is a part of the refinery development plans. (author). 5 ills

AbstractAbstract
[en] This PowerPoint slide presentation described the reality of financing the Canadian oil and gas industry with particular reference to current financing levels and changes in energy and production companies. Several graphs were included which depicted equity supply and demand issues, investment dealer changes, new securities, and new equities in the past decade. A list of both American and Canadian/Royalty Trust acquisitions was included and historical financing activities for Ulster and Newport were listed. 4 tabs., 4 figs

[en] This survey of 41 countries reveals that while most countries experienced higher prices in national currencies, a stronger dollar resulted in lower U.S. dollar adjusted fuel prices during the first half of the year. Currency exchange rate depreciation against the dollar was the predominant fact around the world

AbstractAbstract
[en] The differences between the characterization of petroleum products from a manufacturing standpoint and an environmental framework will be identified and environmental analytical methodologies discussed. The specifications for formulation of diesel fuel as a virgin petroleum fuel product are focused on physical properties and not chemical composition, although certain chemical properties such as sulfur content are defined. The first section of this paper briefly reviews the characteristics of diesel fuel from a manufacturing perspective, including the range of physical and chemical characteristics which it can possess. The next section discusses the chemical composition of diesel fuel. Finally, the means of measuring diesel fuel contamination is soil is discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Much of the world's reserves of heavy, high sulfur crude oil are located in the western hemisphere. One may look from north to south and find these types of crudes. in Canada, there are the vast deposits of tar sands and other heavy oils. In the United States we find heavy, high sulfur crude in California's San joaquin Valley, the Rockies' shale oil deposits and in other areas. Moving south, Mexico's Maya crude is well known to refiners, as are the heavy crudes of Venezuela's Orinoco Belt. On the other hand, many refineries outside the United States are limited in their ability to handle heavy, high sulfur crudes either because of metallurgy or processing configurations

AbstractAbstract
[en] The developments over the past five years of the bulk markets for gas oil in Europe are examined using advanced econometric techniques to study the related issues of pricing efficiency and hedge efficiency. The study attempts to preserve the fluctuations of the actual data as these provide insights into the process of price discovery. The markets studied include the spot, forward and futures markets and looks for evidence of differentiated markets. (UK)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The price responsiveness of US petroleum consumption began to attract a great deal of attention following the unexpected and substantial oil price increases of 1973-74. There have been a number of large, multi-equation econometric studies of US energy demand since then which have focused primarily on estimating short run and long run price and income elasticities of individual energy resources (coal, oil, natural gas ampersand electricity) for various consumer sectors (residential, industrial, commercial). Following these early multi-equation studies there have been several single-equation studies of aggregate US petroleum consumption. When choosing an economic model specification for a single-equation study of aggregate US petroleum consumption, an easily estimated model that will provide unbiased price and income elasticity estimates and yield accurate forecasts is needed. Using Hendry's general-to-simple specification search technique and annual data to obtain a restricted, data-acceptable simplification of a general ADL model yielded GNP and short run price elasticities near the consensus estimates, but a long run price elasticity substantially smaller than existing estimates. Comparisons with three other seemingly acceptable simple-to-general models showed that popular model specifications often involve untested, unacceptable parameter restrictions. These models may also demonstrate poorer forecasting performance. Based on results, the general-to-simple approach appears to offer a more accurate methodology for generating superior forecast models of petroleum consumption and other energy use patterns
