AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper examines the present status and notes possible future directions in the hot atom chemistry of solids. This area of activity is briefly defined and the theoretical and experimental knowledge that at present exists, or is lacking, is discussed. Suggestions for future work are offered. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The underlying principles of nuclear sciece and technology as based on the two basic phenomena, namely, radioactivity and nuclear reactions, with their relatively large associated energy changes, are outlined. The most important contributions by chemists in the overall historical development are mentioned and the strong position chemistry has attained in these fields is indicated. It is concluded that chemistry as well as many other scientific discplines (apart from general benefits) have largely benefitted from these nuclear developments
[af]

AbstractAbstract
[en] This proceedings contains the abstracts of 91 papers presented at the symposium. The majority of papers discusses various hot atom reactions and decay processes. A list of previous 11 international hot atom chemistry symposia from 1959 to 1982 is also given. One paper published in full length presents an overview of them (A.P. Wolf p. 89-89/b). (R.P.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Using stochastic methods we have computed the hot-atom collisional energy density functional, n (E) dE, the number of collisions suffered by a translationally hot atom between E and E + dE. We examine the dependence of n (E) on several variables such as the mass and energy of the hot atom and the parameters of the intermolecular potential
