AbstractAbstract
[en] Potentialities for application of accessible technological procedures for purification of zirconium boride produced by different methods are studied. Variations of impurity content in zirconium boride are analyzed after chemical and vacuum-thermal treatment. It is shown that Mg, Al, Cr, Mn, Fe may be either partially or completely removed by a chemical way. N, O, S, Mn free B and C are removed during chemical treatment in vacuum. Simulataneous chemical and heat treatment allows producing zirconium boride with 99.5-00.7% purity

AbstractAbstract
[en] Sol-gel techniques were developed by this work in order to synthesize ceramic membranes with desirable structures. The relationship between membranes microstructures and the preparative conditions were intensively studied. Since ceramic membranes are composed of ceramic particles packed and fused to produce a porous structure, the control over membrane structure is realized through controlling particle morphology, packing geometry, and the firing process. Three synthetic methods developed to produce size-controlled metal oxide particles and stable sols in which these particles are suspended. Pure TiO2, ZrO2 and mixed-oxide membranes are main products in this work. These membranes cover mesoporous and microporous regions having controllable porosities from 30 to 55%. Specific surface areas from 100 to 500 m2/g were achieved in these systems. The membranes are thermally stable to 800C with respect to preserving mesoporosity and up to 500C with respect to preserving microporosity. These membranes are capable of being used in ultrafiltration, hyperfiltration, gas separation and catalytic or photocatalytic processes
