AbstractAbstract
[en] Advantages and difficulties of acoustic emission as a nondestructive testing technique are reviewed. It is shown that acoustic emission opens a new dimension in the study of material deformation and that much remains to be learnt in the field the theory of the source and the theory of acoustic wave propagation and detection

[en] The bibliography includes nearly all references in the literature on acoustic emission published during the three-year period, 1970 through 1972. Included in the 412 references are several for each of the associated technologies including: signature analysis, boiling detection, cavitation, leak detection, seismology, and rock mechanics. Information has also been obtained from eight abstracting and indexing services searched in compiling the bibliography. The bibliography has been arranged alphabetically by author and is cross referenced with a list of approximately 400 authors. Also included is a subject index. Technical articles listed were published in some 90 different journals and in 8 different languages. (U.S.)

Several solutions of the localization problem are examined: graphical, analytical or numerical methods. It appears that the square pattern formed by five sensors with a central sensor leads to the best precision on the largest area

Cette etude porte sur le probleme de localisation en surface des sources d'emission acoustique. Apres avoir expose ce qui caracterise l'evenement emission acoustique, on rappelle les caracteristiques electroniques des chaines de mesure.
