[en] In the frame of the isotope separation process by ion cyclotron resonance, the excitation of calcium isotopes is studied in a plasma. The experiments reported demonstrate the possibility of selective heating of minor isotopes above one hundred electron-volts. Thus, separation factors higher than 100 have been reached

Dans le cadre du procede de separation par resonance cyclotron ionique, l'excitation des isotopes du calcium est etudiee dans un plasma. On montre experimentalement qu'il est possible de chauffer selectivement les isotopes minoritaires au-dela d'une centaine d'electron-volts. [en] The medium effect of in-medium nucleon–nucleon cross section σ_N_N"m"e"d(α_m) on the isoscaling parameter α is investigated for two couples of central nuclear reactions "4"0Ca+"4"8Ca and "6"0Ca+"4"8Ca; "1"1"2Sn+"1"1"2Sn and "1"2"4Sn+"1"2"4Sn at beam energy region from 40 to 60 MeV/nucleon with isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics. It is found that there is the obvious medium effect of σ_N_N"m"e"d(α_m) on the isoscaling parameters α. The mechanism for the medium effect of σ_N_N"m"e"d(α_m) on α is investigated. (author)

[en] Single-, double-, and triple resonance excitation schemes, using extended-cavity and frequency-doubled diode lasers, have been investigated for highly selective RIMS detection of calcium isotopes. The single-resonance scheme has been applied to isotope ratio measurements in blood serum and meteorite samples. The double- and triple-resonance schemes have been evaluated for improvements in selectivity and sensitivity, with a goal of providing overall isotopic selectivity >1015 for radiochemical dating measurements with 41Ca. copyright 1997 American Institute of Physics
