AbstractAbstract
[en] Selenocarbonyls that are housed in a chiral environment have been found to play a pivotal role aldol reactions. We have found that, in general,, the aldol reaction affords the non-Evans aldol syn products. However, the use of glycolate donors with glycoaldehydes, under proper conditions, gave rise to predominately the anti aldol.

[en] It is shown that the rotating mean field of triaxial nuclei can break the chiral symmetry. Two nearly degenerate ΔI=1 rotational bands originate from the left-handed and right-handed solutions. (c) 2000 The American Physical Society

AbstractAbstract
[en] Using the Poisson bracket method, we construct the hydrodynamics of nuclear matter in the chiral limit, which describes the dynamics of all low-energy degrees of freedom, including the fluid-dynamical and pionic ones. The hydrodynamic equations contain, beside five Euler equations of relativistic fluid dynamics, N2f-1 second order equations describing propagating pions and N2f-1 first order equations describing the advection of the vector isospin charges. We present hydrodynamic arguments showing that the pion velocity vanishes at the second order phase transition at Nf=2 . (c) 2000 The American Physical Society

AbstractAbstract
[en] The qualitative properties of the collective coordinate approximation (CCA) are discussed and it is shown that for any number N/sub f/ of flavors, there is a soliton which can be quantized in N/sub f/ different ways in such an approximation. There are reasons to suspect that for N/sub f/ greater than or equal to 3, the quantization ambiguity is a deficiency of the CCA and that it can be resolved by quantizing certain additional modes

AbstractAbstract
[en] We review the properties of the existing solutions to the Chiral bag equations of motion and discuss how the 'little bag' picture could come about in this scheme. Our analysis leads to a model which is qualitatively similar to the naive quark model with pion cloud corrections. We use this latter approach to look for pion cloud signatures in experimental data

AbstractAbstract
[en] We calculate the forward spin-dependent photon-nucleon Compton amplitude as a function of photon energy at next-to-leading (O(p4)) order in chiral perturbation theory, from which we extract the contribution to the nucleon spin polarizability. The result shows a large correction to the leading order contribution. (c) 2000 The American Physical Society
